Our membership dues seem to go up every year. Just what does the ODAA use all the membership money for?

Let’s do a simple breakdown of expenses per annual membership fee:

ExpensesRemaining

GST$5.00$120.00
Canadian Dental Assistants Assoc.$20.00$100.00
Staff salaries $35.00$65.00
Journal$9.00$56.00
Media campaign$20.00$36.00
Insurance ($15,000 life insurance)$13.22$22.78
Postage$6.00$16.78
Computers, database management$5.00$11.78
Facility (taxes, utilities)$2.50 $9.28

Regulation expenses$7.00 - $20.72
Professional fees (legal, audit)$4.00- $24.72
Bank fees$3.50- $28.22

As you can see, membership fees do not fully cover the cost of the ODAA’s overhead. The ODAA makes every attempt to keep membership fees as low as possible and deliver real value to our members. To that end, we presently have other revenue sources (conferences, home study sales, examinations, certification fees) to assist us in meeting our expenses.
